Lola Davenport Lola Davenport, age 82, Date of birth: April 22,1923, died Nov. 16,2005 at her residence in Woodbury, Tennessee.
She was a native of Cannon County and her parents were the late Ezra Cooper and Lallie Davenport. Her spouse was the late Ben Davenport and she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Mingle and Ruby Davenport.
She is survived by two sons: Robert (Hoppy) and Helen Davenport of Woodbury and Dwight and Carol Davenport of Murfreesboro, TN. Two daughters: Lynne and Med Foster of Woodbury and Patricia and Pearson Barrett of Woodbury. One sister Eunice Barrett of Woodbury. Nine grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren
She was a member of the Dillon Street Baptist Church
Visitation will be Friday Nov. 18, 2005 from 11:00 AM until 08:00 PM at Smith Funeral Home, Woodbury, Tn.

Mrs. Virgie Irvine Arrington Mrs. Virgie Irine (Wright) Arrington, Age 80, died Saturday Nov. 26, 2005 at NHC Smithville, Tn. She is a native of Smithville and is the daughter of the late Lannis & Celia (Mayes) Wright. She is also preceeded in death by her husband, Jesse Davis Arrington; three brothers, Clarence, Verble, and Earl Wright; one sister and a step-son Bobby Arrington.
Survivors include, one step-son, Jim Arrington of Tennessee Ridge, TN.; four step-grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren.
She was a member of the Altaloma Baptist Church in Goodlettsville, Tn. She worked at Wright's Market in Smithville many years ago. She was a homemaker.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov.29,2005 at Smith Funeral Home from noon until 2 PM and funeral services followed at 2 PM with Jimmy Wright officiating. Interment followed at Riverside Gardens. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Elizabeth (Bryson) Allen Elizabeth (Bryson) Allen age 95, born Sept. 27, 1910. Died Nov. 29, 2005 at Woodbury Nursing Center.
She was a resident of Woodbury, Tn. and a native of Cannon county. Her parents were the late Grover Cleveland and Terah Jane (Dobbs) Bryson. She was preceeded in death by her husband the late Raymond Lee Allen, one son, Ray Donald Allen, three daughters, Virginia Sue Allen, Gladys Donegan, and Dorothy Sutton. Three brothers, Bob, Ervin, and Jessie Bryson. Three sisters, Mae Francis, Rachel Turner, and Lou Duggin. And one grandson, Keith Sutton.
She is survived by one brother, Dewey Bryson of Readyville, Tn. Seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren
She was currently a member of the Franklin Rd. Baptist Church and a long time member of The Woodbury First Baptist Church. She was a retired supervisor at Clover Bottom.
Visitation will be Friday Dec. 2, 2005 from 2PM till 8PM and Saturday 10AM till 2PM at Smith Funeral Home. She was a member of Smith Grove Church of Christ and was an elementa She was a resident of Woodbury, Tn. and a native of Cannon County. Her parents were the late Henry H. and Margaret P.(Reed) Smith. Her husband was the late Ike Bryson. She was preceeded in death by two brothers, Hayden and Hobert Smith,two sisters, Grace Engle and Clima Bryson. She is survived by two sons, Andy (Patricia) Bryson and Hayden Bryson, both of Woodbury. One daughter, Susan (Charles) Sain of Bradyville, Tn. and one sister, Joyce Pigg of Crossville, Tn.. Two grandchildren and two great grandchildren She was an elementary teacher and she was the first head start teacher in Cannon County.
Visitation will be Friday Dec. 2, 2005 from 1Pm till 8PM at Smith Funeral Home. Mr. Bennett was born August 3, 1919 in Portland, NY.to parents; Guy Roland and Grace McCoy Bennett. Mr. Bennett was a native of Falconer NY. and a resident of Murfreesboro, Tn. He was a member of the Grace Methodist Church. Publisher emeritus of the Village Advocate, McMinnville and Murfreesboro, publisher of newspapers in Arizona, California, and Colorado. Was President of the school board of Corry Pa., served on the boards of the Chamber of Commerce, YMCA, Salvation Army,Industrial Development Committee and was a member of the Rotary Club. He was owner of Bennetts Ladies Ready to Wear in Corry, Pa. from 1955 till 1968. He was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Bennett was preceeded in death by his parents and daughter Janie Crosby Bennett. He is survived by his wife; Janet L. "Parrish" Bennett, son; Pete "carrol Powel" Bennett, all of Murfreesboro. Ira Elkins Cook age 89, born Sept. 23, 1916, passed away Jan. 24, 2006 at Stones River Hospital, Woodbury Tn.
She was a native of Coffee County Tennessee and a resident of Woodbury, Tn.
She was preceeded in death by her parents: Father Silas Elkins, Mother Allie Ray "Elkins" St John and Step Father Homer St John. Spouse Palmer Cook, three sones at birth: Hugh Bob Cook, Benny Cook, and an infant son Cook. Five sisters: Ludie Hudson, Earline Taylor, Eula Jones,Ethel "Coger" Roberts and Lulla Belcher. and two grandchildren: Doran Pucket and Lisa "Pucket" Dickens.
She is survived by Two sons: Arnold Cook and P.J. "Rooster" (Mary Jean) Cook, both of Woodbury,Tn. Four Daughters: Sherrie Fay(R.C.) Kee of Somerville, Tn., Wilma(Edmond) Prater of Greenfield Tn.,Sue(Zeb) Redmon of McMinnville, Tn. and Louise Louvorn of Woodbury Tn. and one brother Paul "Buster" Elkins of Memphis, Tn. Memorial services for R. Jeanette Jones 67, of Smyrna, Tn. will be held Thursday Feb.2, 2006 at the Lighthouse Wesleyan Church, 239 Jefferson Pike in LaVergne Tn. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Ms. Jones was born August 21, 1938 in Nashville, Tn..Her father was the late Plummer Hershel Jones. She is survived by her mother Carrie Mae (Sensing) Jones, two daughters and sons in law, Lisa (Palmes) Exum and Michelle (Mark) Tavernier, both of Murfreesboro, Tn. ;six sisters, Fatricia Jackson, Mary Faircloth, Linda Potts, Marie D'Arc, Helen Heyen, and Jenny Duke. Also five grandchildren, all of Smyrna, Tn. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Lighthouse Wesleyan Church. She was an employee of Whirlpool Corporation for thirteen years. She was a foster parent for several years.
She wrote poetry and one of her poems is on display at the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center.
She enjoyed fishing and also enjoyed gardening and the outdoors.

Rayburn Ray Merritt 71, a lifelong resident of Woodbury, passed away Saturday March 4 due to complications resulting from an auto accident February 23 on Auburn Town Road. He was preceeded in death by his wife, Betty(christopher) Keel Merritt and an infant son James Elbert Merritt, and son Joe Merritt. Two brothers, Haskell and Tillmon Merritt. Two sisters, Mamie and Frances Mears.
He is survived by two sons, Robert Merritt of Murfreesboro Tn. and Frank Merritt of Louisville, Ky; two step sons, Malcolm Keel of Murfreesboro, Tn. and Jesse Keel of McMinnville, Tn.; one daughter,Betty Cason of Smyrna, Tn.; one step daughter,Wanda Smith of McMinnville, Tn; one brother, James Robert Merritt of Harrison, Tn. and several grandchildren. Mary Gertrude Hoover , 93, of Woodbury died March 7, 2006 at Stones River Hospital in Woodbury Tn.. She was a native of Cannon County.
She was the daughter of Balaam and Hattie (Scott) Young. She was also peceeded in death by her husband James William Hoover and two brothers; Thurston and Arthur Young and an infant sister.
She is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Joe & Kathleen Hoover of Readyville, Tn. and Charles and Genny Hoover of LaVergne, Tn..Also surviving are two grandchildren, Larry Hoover and Christy Mortinsen. Also three great gandchildren.
Mrs. Hoover was a long time member of the New Hope Church of Christ.

He was preceeded in death by one daughter; Robin Haley Spry and two brothers; Mack and Robert Floyd Haley He was a member of The Woodbury Church of Christ He was a former owner and operator of various businesses in Woodbury, a road construction worker, chair maker, livestock dealer, and a retired superintendent of the Cannon County Highway Department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean conflict. He was preceeded in death by his parents, the late Lehman and Leatha Mae "Pitts" Davenport and a sister in law, Reba Joe "Tenpenny" Bowman. He is survived by his Spouse, Mae Ann "Tenpenny" Davenport, Brothers and sisters in law, Billy and Shirley Tenpenny and Lonny and Lola Bowman, also Tony Tenpenny. Nephews Patrick Bowman, Andy Tenpenny, and Billy Tenpenny II. Nieces, Rebecca Anderson and Jilda Bowman. Also special relatives, Jerry and Brenda Mullinax. He was a member of Woodbury Church of Christ, was a farmer, and bus driver for Cannon County Schools for 37 years. W.T. Ford W.T Ford died Nov. 5, 2006 at his home in Woodbury, Tn. at the age of 62, he was born Aug. 12,1944 and was a native of Cannon County. We was preceeded in death by his parents, Horace "Lem" and Argie(Melton) Ford and two brothers Robert and Mike Ford. He is survived by his wife Linda (Bailey)ford of Woodbury and one Son and daughter in law Jamie and Angela Ford of Woodbury. Two brothers;Joe Ford of Smithville,Tn. and James Ford of Murfreesboro,Tn., five sisters;Willa Deberry of Woodbury, Faye Rogers of Hermitage, Tn., Lucille Todd of Centertown,Tn., Beatrice Jolly of Rockwood,Tn.,and Janice Bills of Lewisburg Tn.. Also two grandchildren. He was a self employed logger. Visitation will be Monday,Nov. 6, 2006 from 1till 9 PM. at Smith Funeral Home and the funeral will be on Tuesday Nov. 7, 2006 at 2 PM at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Cleo Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at the Goodridge Cemetery. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
David Brazzell David Brazzell age 85, date of birth Dec.31,1920 passed away on Nov. 10,2006 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tn. He was a resident of Antioch, Tn. and was a native of Cannon Counry and formerly lived in Woodbury. He was preceeded in death by his parents; the late E.T. and Eva (Vaden) Brazzell. First wife Hazel Marie (Haley) Brazzell. Also a step son; Jack Allen. Four Brothers; Oscar, Everett, Virgil, and Paul Brazzell. Two sisters; Dollie Hutchins, and Mary Brazzell. He is survived by his second wife Barbara (Knox) Allen Brazzell and a step son; Jack Allen. He is also survived by two daughters; Diane Brazzell of Murfreesboro, TN. and Linda and Fred Hill of Amarillo, Texas. One brother; Jimmy Brazzell of Nashville, Tn. and one sister; Evalena Muncy of Woodbury. Six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was a member of the Antioch Church of Christ. He was a sales manager for The Missouri Pacific Railroad. Visitation will be on Sunday Nov. 12, 2006 from 2:30 PM until 5:00 PM at Smith Funeral Home. There will be a private gravesite service for the family and the family is invited to a celebration of life following the gravesite setrvices at Leoni Church of Christ. Brother Herb Alsup will officiate. Interment will be at Leoni Cemetery. Donations may be made to Alive Hospice in lieu of flowers- Contact Smith Funeral Home. Ruth Woodward (Granny) Stone
Ruth Woodward (granny) Stone age 91, born Dec. 17, 1914 passed away Dec. 1, 2006 at Stones River Hospital, Woodbury Tn.
She was a native of Atlanta, Georgia and a resident of Woodbury, Tn. She was preceeded in death by her parents R.C. and Tenilla (Thurston) Woodward. Spouse, the late Hilton Stone. Two brothers; R.W. and Ted Woodward. Also two sisters Mary and Charlene.
She is survived bytwo sons; James E. (Jimmy) and Frances Stone of Woodbury, and Charley F. and Judy Stone of Kimberling City, Missouri. Two brothers; Tom and David Woodward and one sister; Katie Akin. Five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was a member of the Woodbury Church of Christ and her occupation for over twenty years was a cook in the Cannon County Schools.
Visitation will be Saturday Dec. 2, 2006 from 4:00 till 8:00 PM and Sunday Dec. 3, 2006 from 12:00 till 2:00 PM at Smith Funeral Home and the funeral will be held Sunday Dec. 3, 2006 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Herb Alsup officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

Charles Edward Floyd, Jr. Charles Edward Floyd, Jr. died Nov. 28, 2006 at his residence in Manchester, Tn.. He was 18 years of age and his date of birth was Jan. 14, 1988. He was a native of Woodbury and Cannon County Tennessee. He was preceeded in death by his grandmother ;Mary Lee Daniels and grandfather; the Rev. Baker B. Floyd. He is survived by his parents; Charles Edward and Bobbie Jean (Daniels) Floyd of Manchester, Tn.,fiancee; Shana Cargill of Manchester, grandfather; Robert J. Daniels of Manchester, grandmother; Peggy Ann Daniels of LaVergne, Tn. and one son; Michael Cameron Floyd of Knoxville. Two brothers; John Baker Floyd of Manchester, and Jared Ray Floyd of Dickson County, Tn.. Three sisters; Angela Marie Floyd and Rebecca Ann Floyd of Manchester and Abagail Floyd of Dickson County. Visitation will be Friday Dec. 1, 2006 from 9:00 Am until time for the funeral service at Smith Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held in Smith Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM Dec. 1, 2006. Interment will follow at Gilley Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flwers donations can be made at Smith Funeral Home to help defray funeral costs.
