JOHNNIE BELL NICHOLS

     Mrs. Johnnie Bell (Davenport) Nichols, 83, of Readyville died January 15, 2012.  She was born April 21, 1928 in Cannon County, TN.  Her parents were the late Johnny Eagleton Davenport and Lena Bell (Preston) Davenport.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorris "Slick" Nichols; son, Roger Allen Nichols; brothers, Rodney Davenport and Robert William Davenport; sisters, Lorene Chester, Emma Nell Simmons, Dorothy Dean Mayo and Rilla Sue Bogle.

     Survivors include her sons, Gayle & Linda Nichols of Woodbury, Randall & Carolyn Nichols of Murfreesboro; daughter, Margarita & Steve Watts of Readyville; brother, Macon "Snooks" Davenport of Murfreesboro; seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchildren.

      She was a member of the Hillview Church of Christ.  Her family said that she was always there when they needed her.  She enjoyed crocheting and sewing.  Spending time with family, especially, grandchildren and great granchildren was a joy for her.  Cooking chicken and cornbread for family dinners was something she loved to do.

DONNA JO COOK

    Donna Jo Cook, 46, of Woodbury died January 11, 2012.  She was born November 13, 1965 in Woodbury, TN.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Joan Geasley.
    She is survived by her father, Joe Cook of Readyville; brother, Zachary Cook of Readyville; sister, Kim Cook of Readyville and two nieces, Ali Jo Peckham and Mikayla Josie Cook.

TERRI ANN JONES
 
          Mrs. Terri Ann Jones, 53, of Woodbury died January 11, 2012.  She was born March 14, 1958 in Nashville, TN.  She was preceded in death by her father, James E. "Jabo" Hollandsworth.

     Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Gary Jones; her mother, Ann (Savely) Hollandsworth; son, Kirk & Tiffany Jones all of Woodbury; daughter, Becky & Kenny Mears of Bradyville; sister, Rhonda & Glen Wimberly of Woodbury and six grandchildren.

     Mrs. Jones was a member of the West High Street Church of Christ.  She owned and operated, Miss Terri's Day Care for over 35 years.  Being around children and taking care of them was something she loved to do.  She spent a lot of time reading the Bible.  Her favorite thing of all was being with her family.

WAYNE KEEDY

     Wayne Keedy, 48, of Bradyville died Dec. 21, 2011 after an extended illness.  He was born in Pikeville, TN on July 20, 1963.  He is survived by his wife, Pamela Layhew Keedy of Bradyville; mother, Barbara (Ogle) Keedy of Murfreesboro; father, Bobby Joe Keedy of Lee Station, TN; sons, Joshua & Shelly Keedy of Murfreesboro, Shane & Brandie Layhew of Rockvale, Rusty & Angela Layhew of Eagleville; daughters, Megan & Paulino Reyes of Murfreesboro; Tracy & Bobby Brooksher of Eagleville; twelve grandchildren and John Bryan who was like a brother to him.
     He attended Lakeview Baptist Church before he became ill.Mr. Keedy worked for many years building boats at Javelin and for Swan Manufacturing.  Fishing and watching NASCAR races were things he loved to do.  He was a Jeff Gordon fan.  Collecting coins, knives and lighters and searching for arrowheads were things he enjoyed.

WILLIAM G. BRYANT

     Mr. William G. "Bill" Bryant, 88, of Woodbury died Dec. 17, 2011.  He was born on March 6, 1923 in Moulton, Alabama and moved to Cannon County in 1962.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew W. Bryant and Annie Josephine (Canup) Bryant.  He was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas Bryant, his first and second wives, Lou Davis Bryant and Dorothy Markum Bryant, four brothers and a sister.
     He is survived by his wife, Ernestine (Rogers) Smith Bryant of Woodbury;  two sons, Mike & Pam Bryant and Gary & Juanella Bryant both of Alabama; two step-sons, Charles & Gail Markum and John Smith both of Woodbury; one daughter, Kathy & Danny Adams of Alabama; one step-daughter, Sherry & Doug Ramsey of Woodbury; one sister, Letha Newton of Five Points, TN; grandchildren, Josh & Ashley Bryant, Tommy Bryant, Jason Adams, Justin Adams, Candice Baker, Denise Roller, Ronnie Ramsey, Jonathan Smith, Ethan Smith, Andrew Smith, Corey Smith; great grandchildren, Alyssa Adams, Nash Adams, Jessica Roller and Victor Roller and several nieces and nephews.

     Mr. Bryant was a member of the Smith Grove Church of Christ.  He was a retired employee of Dekalb Telephone.  He loved to work in his yard and mow.  He enjoyed being outdoors.

BILLY EUGENE PORTER

     Billy Eugene Porter, 52, of Woodbury was called home on Dec. 13, 2011 by our Heavenly Father.  He was born on Dec. 12, 1959. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. Porter and Mary (Barlow) Porter.

     He lived his life with his brother, Jerry Wayne Porter in Woodbury; he leaves behind three other brothers, Jimmie & Faye of Woodbury, John & Helen of Woodbury and James & Sue of Manchester; five sisters, Shirley & Willie of Nashville, Judy & Ernest of Woodbury, Janie & Dennis of Murfreesboro, Peggy & Issac of Woodbury and Francis of Alabama; also surviving are many, many nieces and nephews; special friends, Earl West, Gloria Braund, Larry Merritt and Cheryl DeWitt; very special friend, Dawnie Robinson.

     Mr. Porter spent many years taking care of his mother.  He enjoyed being outdoors, doing yardwork and working with wood.

LIVIE SUE BEAGLE

      Livie Sue Beagle, 84, of Milton, TN, went home to be with her Lord with her family by her side, on December 1st, 2011. She was born on May 29, 1927 in Basham, VA and formerly lived in Alexandria, VA and Englewood, FL.
     She spent her working career in the customer service industry, retiring from internationally known art publisher Mill Pond Press in Venice, FL.
     She is survived by her husband of 64 years Harold (Bud), her children Michael (wife Linda) of Readyville, TN; daughter Natalie Watts (husband Steve) of Sarasota, FL, son Robert (wife Debra) of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan, Eric, Jordy, Stephanie, Michael; great-grandchildren, Blake, Ava, Mason, and sister Lucille Izzo of Largo, FL.
     Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, P.O. Box 7669, Atlanta, GA. 30357-0669. Services were private.  Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


LINDA ARNOLD

     Mrs. Linda Arnold, 64, of Woodbury died Nov. 30, 2011.  She was born on May 27, 1947 in Woodbury, TN.  Her parents were the late Floyd Barrett & Bessie (Mears) Fox.
     She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Dossie D. Arnold of Woodbury; sons, Mark & Trisha Arnold of Smyrna and granddaughter, Laura Arnold, Paul Arnold & Sheree McCardell of Woodbury, grandchildren, Jessica, Devon & Abbie Arnold; daughter, Jennifer & Justin Dyer of Murfreesboro, grandson, Landon Dyer;  brother, Dwight & Linda Barrett of Arlington, TX.

     Mrs. Arnold was a member of Plainview Baptist Church.  She loved to work outside in the yard and planting flowers.  She enjoyed going to yard sales.  Spending time with her family was her favorite pass time.

JAMES E. MOONEYHAM

     Mr. James E. Mooneyham, known also as "Nub" or "Sonny" by family & friends.  Passed away on Nov. 22, 2011, at the age of 66, after an extended illness.  Mr. Mooneyham was a native of Cannon County, born on Sept. 6, 1945.  He was a tree surgeon with the former Duck River Electric.  He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Ray Mooneyham and his mother and step-father, Roberta (Thomas) & I. C. Haley. 
      He leaves behind three children and ten grandchildren; daughter, Cindy & Michael Layne and grandson, Collin Blake Rose; daughter, Jennifer Hernandez and grandchildren, Shayla, Iasiah, Christian and Miracle Hernandez; son, Kenneth Ray, Sr. & Christina Mooneyham and grandchildren, Loren, Kenneth Ray, Jr., Devin, Brenden and Kyleigh Mooneyham all of Murfreesboro.  Also survived by sisters, Patricia Walls of Smithville and Deborah (Ronnie) Pelham of Woodbury; brother, Glenn Hoyte & Judy Mooneyham of Woodbury; eight nieces and two nephews.
     Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 25, 2011 from 2-7 PM.  Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011 at 1 PM in the Smith Funeral Home chapel.  T. B. JAMES REXTON CAMPBELL

          Mr. James Rexton Campbell, 69, of Woodbury died November 14, 2011.  He was born November 15, 1941 in Cannon County.  His parents were the late Charles Albert Campbell & Opal Christine (Prater)Campbell.
     He is survived by his wife, Kay Campbell of Woodbury; son, Lee Campbell of Murfreesboro; brother, John & Marion Campbell of Woodbury; two grandsons, Wesley and Bradley and one great grandson, Brentlee.

     Mr. Campbell was a member of the Woodbury Church of Christ. Enjoyed cars and going to races.  In his earlier years he liked to ride dirt bikes and motorcycles with his friends.  He was a retired tool and die maker with Oster Corporation in McMinnville.

     Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011 from 4-8 PM .  Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 at 2 PM in the Smith Funeral Home chapel .  Herb Alsup and Al Bugg will officiate.  Interment will follow in Riverside Garden.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Woodbury Church of Christ or Short Mountain Bible Camp.

GREGORY DEAN LANE

     Mr. Gregory Dean Lane, 47, of the Readyville/Kittrell area died November 12, 2011.  He was born on January 12, 1964 in Murfreesboro, TN.  His parents were the late Bobby Dean Lane and Janice (Milligan) Lane.  He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack Lane and Lilly White (Bowling) Lane and Paul Milligan and Willie May (Jones) Milligan.

     He is survived by his brother, Mike & Connie Lane of Kittrell/Readyville; sister, Jackie Cooper of Readyville; nieces, Tamara, Jennifer, Carissa, Ashlynn; great nieces, Kaitlynn, Alyssa, Emma and Aubree and great nephew, Luke.

     Mr. Lane was a member of the Science Hill Church of Christ.  He was a graduate of Oakland High School.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on vehicles.

     Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from 11AM-2PM.  Funeral services will follow in the Smith Funeral Home chapel at 2PM. FRANK HILL

     Mr. Frank Hill, 80, of Woodbury died November 8, 2011.  He was born December 11, 1930 in Jeff, Kentucky.  His parents were the late Howard Hill and Cora Delia (Martin) Hill.  He was also preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
     Survivors include his wife of over 40 years, Annie Roberta (Rogers) Hill of Woodbury; brother, Fred Hill of Kentucky; brothers-in-law, Jerry & Jackie Rogers of Clearwater, FL, J.C. & Stella Rogers of Kittrell; sisters-in-law, Claudean Coffman of Woodbury and Peggy Jacobs; as well as several nieces and nephews.
     Mr. Hill was a member of the Woodbury Church of Christ.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.  He enjoyed gardening and working outside in his garage.  The U.S. Army Honor Guard will be presenting funeral honors.

VIOLET BOGLE

     Mrs. Violet Bogle, 75, of Woodbury died November 9, 2011.  She was born in Ramsgate, England on August 12, 1936.  Her parents were the late Henry Frost and Violet Elizabeth (Harris) Frost.  She was also preceded in death by her two sons, Michael Roy Bogle and Larry Bogle; a grandson, Michael Lynn Stone and  sisters, Rose Frost and Lilly Frost.
     She is survived by her daughter, Diane & Harold, Jr. Potter of Monroe, GA; daughter-in-law, Martinia Resha Bogle of Woodbury; brothers, Steven & Diane Frost, Johnny Frost; sisters,  Sandra Crumbb, Joan & Pete Walsh, Marlene & Paul Johnson and Margaret & Roger Pennbel; three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and by her close friend, Judy Bogle of Woodbury.
     Mrs. Bogle attended the Dillon Street Baptist Church.  She loved animals.  Planting flowers and working in her flower garden.

CHARLES BULLMORE

     Mr. Charles L. Bullmore, 67, of Murfreesboro died Nov. 5, 2011.  He was born March 15, 1944 in Phoenix, Arizona.  His parents were the late William Bullmore and Cathryn (Gabard) Bullmore.  He was preceded in death by a brother.
     Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Toombs) Bullmore of Murfreesboro; daughters, Renae Bullmore and Rachael Bullmore both of Arizona; step-daugther, Lisa Toombs of Murfreesboro; brothers, David Bullmore of Ohio, Jimmy Bullmore of Texas and Joe Bullmore of Arizona; sisters, Carol Haws of Arizona and Becky Bullmore of Georgia; four grandsons, one granddaugther, two step-grandsons, three step-granddaughters, three great grandsons and one great granddaughter.
     Mr. Bullmore was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

BETTY JO DURHAM HALL

     Mrs. Betty Jo Durham Hall, 73, of Murfreesboro died November 5, 2011.  She was born in Cannon County, TN on April 25, 1938.  Her parents were the late Bill Jefferson Mears and Mamie (Merritt) Mears.  She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Calvin Durham; brothers, Gentry Mears and David Mears; sisters, Jane Barrett and Faye Mears and by a grandson, Chad Durham.
     She is survived by her husband of nearly 26 years, Bill Hall of Murfreesboro; sons, Randy & Jennie Durham of Readyville, Calvin Ray Durham of Murfreesboro and Terry & Patricia Durham of Murfreesboro; daughter, Renee Durham of Murfreesboro; step-son, Chris & Debbie Hall of Murfreesboro; step-mother, Seaple Mears of Woodbury; brothers, William "Bill" Mears and Billy Mears both of Murfreesboro and Jesse Mears of McMinnville; sisters, Mary Ann Brummit and Vicky Mears both of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Kelly Futral, B.J. Durham, Terry "T.J." Rettmann, Rebecca Rettmann and Holly Willbanks; great grandson, Hunter Futral.

     She was a member of Gethsemane House of Prayer.  She loved being around children and babysitting.  Working in her garden and canning were favorite pass times.  She enjoyed planting flowers and working in the yard.  People knew her as a soft spoken Christian lady, that loved going to church.  She loved Jesus Christ and reading the Bible.

LARRY RICHARDS

          Mr. Larry Richards, 86, of Woodbury died October 24, 2011.  He was born in Woodbury on March 12, 1925.  His parents were the late Clyde E. Richards and Mary (Brevard) Richards.  He was also preceded in death by his wife Mary Alice (Churchwell) Richards.
     Survivors include his son, Greg & Carol Richards of Germantown, TN; daughters, Karen & Larry Tucker of Jefferson, GA and Julie & Russell Longcore of Marietta, GA; a brother, Dorris Brevard Richards of Portland, OR; grandsons, Jarrett Smith, Ben Richards and Joel Richards.

     Mr. Richards was a member of Woodbury First Baptist Church.  He graduated Woodbury Central High School in the Class of 1942.  Following graduation he entered the U.S. Army serving with the veterans in CBI (China, Burma & India) during WWII.  He earned a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. He began working for the U.S. Treasury Dept.  While working for the Treasury Dept. he earned his Law Degree.  He retired from the Treasury Dept. with 28 years service.  He then opened a law practice in Woodbury with Richard Northcutt.  They were later joined by Dale Peterson and Kyle Williams.  Mr. Richards was also a Lion's Club member since 1976.

     Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 from 3-8 PM.  Graveside services will be on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 2 PM at Riverside Cemetery.  Rev. HIXIE OLIVER DOWDY

     Mrs. Hixie Oliver Dowdy, 103, of Woodbury died October 24, 2011.  She was born in Woodbury on Sept. 10, 1908.  Her parents were the late James Burton Oliver and Nettie (Covington) Oliver.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jess Aubrey Dowdy; son, Jess Dowdy, Jr.; and brother, Jack Oliver and sister-in-law  Mary Lawrence Oliver.

     Survivors include her nieces, Amanda Oliver of Woodbury and Lynn & Bob Wenige of North Carolina, Jane & Don Gaffin of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.; daughter-in-law, Rosanne Dowdy; cousin, Nancy Lee & Fred Dismukes of Franklin.

     Mrs. Dowdy was the longest standing member of the Woodbury Church of Christ.  After graduating Woodbury Central High class of 1927, she moved to Greenville, Mississippi.  That was where she and her husband Jess met and lived for many years.  She was a member of the Garden Club  and Sewing Club of Woodbury & Greenville, Mississippi, Home Demonstration Club and the Red Hat Society.

BESSIE JUSTICE LOVVORN

     Mrs. Bessie (Justice) Lovvorn, 71, of Beechgrove died October 22, 2011 at her home.  She was born on January 2, 1940 in Coalfield, TN.  Her parents were the late Howard Wiley Justice and Mattie Ellen (Smith) Justice.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Lovvorn; a son, John "Mickey" Eaglen; brothers, Clyde Justice, Junior Justice and Eldon Justice.

     She is survived by daughters, Becky Gadd of Beechgrove, Sandra Sellers of Beechgrove and Brenda & Troy Vaughn of Murfreesboro; a son, Marvin & Stephanie Eaglen of Murfreesboro; a brother, Burley & Betty Justice of Friendsville, TN; sisters, Vera & Ray Adams of Dunlap, Dean & Bob Vesper of Yankton, South Dakota, Nora Jean Cox of Michigan, Mary Ruth Swanner of Friendsville, TN, Gail & Bruce McMillen of Friendsville, TN; twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; also survived by her life long friend Juanita Langrell.

     Mrs. Lovvorn was baptized into the Baptist Church.  She loved to go fishing and work in her garden.  She was known to be a hard worker.  Her greatest love of all was her family.

JAMES HOWARD MATHENY

    Mr. James Howard Matheny, 77, of Bradyville died October 14, 2011.  He was born November 14, 1933 in Rickman, TN.  His parents were the late Carlen Edgar Matheny and Mary Ethel (Walker) Matheny.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Gentry Matheny and two sisters, Vesta Thompson and Iva Shore.
     He is survived by his wife, Ruby Ellen (Walker) Matheny of Bradyville; two sons, Doug & Diane Matheny of Auburntown and Billy Matheny of Bradyville; a daughter, Donna & Al Durkee of Manchester; a brother, Ernest & Louise Matheny of Anderson, IN; a sister, Fran & Chuck Babb of Cookeville, TN; two grandsons, Jackie Lee Hays and Danny Lynn Matheny and one great grandson Shawn Michael Matheny.

     Mr. Matheny was a retired employee of Carrier in Morrison with 28 years service.  After moving to Cannon County he and his family operated a dairy and enjoyed working together on the farm.  Being on the farm and with his family were his favorite things.

     Visitation will be Saturday, October 15, 2011 from 4-8 PM at Smith Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 16, 2011 at 2 PM in the Smith Funeral Home chapel.  Jimmy Jetton will officate.  Interment will be in Midway Cemetery.  Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.  (615)563-5337   www.smithfuneralhomewoodbury.net

ARNO A. PACE

     Mr. Arno Alfred Pace, 94, of Madison died on October 4, 2011.  He was born November 29, 1916 in Wiggins, Mississippi.  He was preceded in death by his parents William W. Pace and Nina Mae (Breland) Pace; also preceded by brothers, Wilburn Pace and Benjamin Pace, sisters, Bonnie Pace and Sally Pace, Willie Mae Pace, Adele Pace and Selma Pace.
      He is survived by his wife, Bertha Manus Pace of Madison; a brother, Nathaniel A. Pace of Newport News, VA and several nieces and nephews.

       When he was young he discovered an ability to play the guitar and harmonica.  He served in the U. S. Army during WWII.   After being injured during the war, he used his musical ability to help entertain other soldiers.  During this time he met other entertainers like Bob Hope through the USO.  Mr. Pace also wrote many songs, recorded some albums and helped other musicians working on their albums.  During his life he also had acting parts in several movies, including one with Gene Autry.  Mr. Pace attended the Cowboy Church in Nashville.  He was also a member of the Inglewood VFW.

     Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Thursday, October 6, 2011 from 10 AM-8 PM.  Funeral services will be Friday, October 7, 2011 at 2 PM in the Smith Funeral Home chapel.  Dave Davis and Harry Yates will officiate.
